Business Development Manager UK

DEPARTMENT: SALES

Purpose of the Role

To generate profitable business with professional clients (architects, interior designers, lighting designers, building contractors)

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively generate and follow up sales leads with the support of marketing.
  • Generate own business development opportunities.
  • Attend networking or business development opportunities organised by John Cullen or other industry professionals.
  • Drive customers towards visiting our showroom for consultation/demonstrations.
  • Seek out new networking and promotional opportunities to attend.
  • Ensure opportunities generated flow into sales via the prescribed methods.

Experience & Skills

  • 4+ years’ in a sales role, with 2 years’ demonstrable success in business development, preferably in lighting, but certainly in a luxury goods or brand business with value-based specification selling.
  • Knowledge of LED lighting products preferable, and ideally with technical background
  • Highly commercial and numerate
  • Proactive, taking initiative and action to generate sales opportunities.

This is a full-time position and offers fully flexible working.

Sales Executive

DEPARTMENT: SALES

Purpose of the Role

To develop business with (mostly) private clients, from walk-ins to the Showroom, incoming calls, and proactive outreach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming phone calls as part of the Sales team.
  • Proactively follow up potential sales queries (by email or phone) to convert them to quote and then orders
  • Up sell and cross sell where appropriate being sensitive to customer’s needs and budgets.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of architectural lighting including fittings, drivers, regulations, control systems
  • Develop long-term customer relationships with a view to generating and increasing sales
  • Advise clients in the Showroom, give product demonstrations and take part in the Showroom and Saturday rota as required.
  • Deliver seminars through CPD trainings and assist on JCL Master Classes

Experience & Skills

  • 2+ years’ in a phone sales role, ideally in lighting but otherwise in a luxury goods or brand product business with value-based specification selling
  • Knowledge of LED lighting products preferable, otherwise technical
  • Highly commercial and numerate with ability to negotiate effectively
  • Highly organised, positive and energetic
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive by nature, taking initiative and action
  • Ability to retain detailed technical knowledge

This is a full-time position offering hybrid work arrangements with 3+ based at our Showroom

Assistant Project Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: SALES

Purpose of the Role

To support the Senior Project Coordinator in the smooth running of projects, helping to draft detailed project plans and then coordinate their delivery on time and to the customer’s satisfaction – providing the main link between sales, design, supply chain and end customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Supply Chain team to ensure products are delivered to the customer in a timely manner, proactively confirming lead times to the client and Sales or Design teams.
  • Proactively communicate by telephone and email with all stakeholders both internal and external in a timely manner
  • Cross-check and process sales orders and invoices and send order acknowledgements.

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year in project management
  • Proactive, taking initiative and action
  • A real team player, energetic, and enthusiastic
  • Highly organised with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral
  • Numerate
  • Excellent knowledge of SAP MRP, MS-Office skills (especially Word and Excel)
  • Project management tools, including producing Gantt charts

This is a full-time position predominantly based at our head office

Sales Administrator

DEPARTMENT: SALES

Purpose of the Role

The primary function is to support the Sales team in the administration of the department, specifically regarding managing incoming calls and emails and simple order processing.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all incoming calls to Sales, determining who they should go to, and ensuring the customer’s expectations are set and they are kept informed
  • Manage sales email enquiries, determining who they should be answered by across the business (Sales, Customer Service, Design etc)
  • Process simple orders – raising a quote, invoices and take payments
  • Be fully aware of the JCL product range and all its unique selling points

 Experience

  • Up to three years in an administrative role in a service and product sales environment
