Dining Room Lighting

The essential ingredient after food and company that contribute to a successful dinning room is the mood, and this is best controlled by good dining room lighting.

The key to dining room lighting is to focus light onto the centre of the table, onto the silverware or the flowers, but never directly over the diners’ heads.

Low glare Polespring downlights with narrow beam lamps give the centre of the table a soft atmospheric glow lighting the flowers and fruit (Scene 1).  When dining this helps creates an intimate feel to the space and draws the diners in.  At dusk, lighting is added to the stairs with 1w LED Cazalla floor washers and to the desk with Contour LED strip back lighting the shelves (Scene 2). This creates a soft direct light into the space.

Another element to think about when considering your dining room lighting is to light outside.  When you have glass sliding doors as here, the glass will reflect the space inside creating a gold fish bowl effect.  To avoid this light the garden outside however small.  1w LED Oslo Exterior floor washers wash light across the two steps and beyond 1w Kew spiked spots light up the garden providing a focus at night increasing the feeling of space (Scene 3).
