Woven: Design Inspired by Nature

07 / 03 / 2020

In time for the launch of London Design Week 2020 on Sunday 8th March, our showroom has been transformed in an exciting design collaboration, ‘WOVEN: Design Inspired by Nature’ created by acclaimed London interior designer, Henry Prideaux.

The design features a sofa, a pair of swivel armchairs, an octagonal ottoman together with a cluster of bronze side tables from Robert Langford’s sophisticated furniture collection. Pieces have been upholstered in a combination of naturally tactile patterned and plain woven fabrics, linens and velvets in a colour palette of calming blues, natural cream and warming copper and rust tones enlivened with contrast piping, from the new Rhythm and Urbane collections by Mark Alexander at Romo Fabrics.

The scheme has been further elevated with the addition of a beautiful, textured wallpaper from the latest collections at Romo to create a subtle backdrop within the existing fitted joinery.

The scheme is complemented by decorative baskets and contemporary ceramics, handcrafted in South Africa and curated by exciting new homewares brand Hadeda, providing an organic element to work in harmony with the elegant table lamps from the &Objects decorative lighting range at Porta Romana, creating a relaxed, laidback vibe.

“The concept stems from the transitional period between Winter and Spring, creating a space that is cosy and enveloping yet conveys a sense of optimism. The blues and earthy tones of the fabrics echo the sky and landscape in Winter which, when paired with Spring-themed planting and hand-made woven natural fibre accessories, reflect a design inspired by nature. Hand woven rugs form a base for the furniture, culminating in a space that is woven together into one articulate scheme” says Henry Prideaux.

A pair of luxurious rugs by Jennifer Manners, including one from her recently launched /re/PURPOSE range, which uses thousands of plastic bottles in the manufacture which would otherwise be put in landfill, will anchor each arrangement adding depth and subtle pattern, and lush tropical-style indoor planting, hand-selected by garden designer, Nicholas Obolensky Design, brings the whole scheme to life with an energising flourish of greenery.

We’ve lit the impressive nature-inspired display with models from our new Kew and Hampton garden lighting range. The installation will be on display for three months, so do make sure to drop by to see it for yourself and be inspired. Keep checking our Instagram for the latest updates and pictures.
