Lighting Design Assistant

Design Department

We are currently recruiting for a Design Assistant within our Kings Road Design Studio. This is a junior position ideal for a candidate looking to start a career in lighting design. In depth product and design training is provided in-house by experienced members of our design, technical and controls teams.

The ideal candidate will have 0 – 1 years’ experience and must be able to demonstrate a clear passion for architectural lighting as well as interiors and architecture. Successful completion of an interior architecture or interior design course/degree would be preferable.

This exciting and rewarding role will give the opportunity to work on some of the world’s most exciting luxury lighting projects for residential, hospitality and marine applications.

Some of the main roles for this position include;

  • Working as part of a team to create discreet lighting designs for clients
  • Creating lighting specifications for luminaires and controls
  • Producing CAD drawings of lighting layouts
  • Compiling mood board presentations to illustrate design concepts
  • Commissioning of the lighting system
  • Site meetings
  • Project management including co-ordination with other project members
  • Liaising with clients in our showroom to demonstrate lighting effects and to give design advice

Applicants should be able to demonstrate good design and technical skills as well as being highly organised. IT essentials include proficient use of AutoCAD, and MS Office with advanced software and product training given in-house. The candidate should be fluent in written and spoken English and a good communicator. We are looking for a team player who will be a valuable addition to our dynamic team. This is a full-time position and the vacancy is available immediately.

Showroom Consultant

Design Department

We are currently looking for a creative and proactive individual to fill a position we have available for Showroom Consultant in our Kings Road location. The main role of this position will be to present the John Cullen product range to clients and to make them aware of the services we offer.

• Key roles and responsibilities include;
• Developing and implementing ideas to improve the showroom’s impact and effectiveness.
• Demonstrations of the John Cullen product range to clients and explanation of the design services.
• Follow up contact with clients after their visits
• Giving full presentations on lighting design ideas for their interiors and exteriors.
• Helping clients specify John Cullen lights for small residential projects.
• Manage the company’s interaction with current and future clients.
• Liaising with the marketing department to organise and set up showroom events.
• Ensuring that the showroom spaces are presentable at all times and maintaining stock levels.
• Organising and curating interiors for the showroom by collaborating with key industry partners to showcase both brands.
• Liaising with contractors to organise maintenance within the showroom.
• Some additional administration work.

Specification Sales Manager

Field Based, London

The Specification Sales Manager is a field-based sales role focusing on the greater London region. This specification sales role is to sell our in-house designed LED lighting solutions to luxury markets such as high-end residential applications. This role requires demonstrating a proven UK sales record, specialist knowledge on the UK lighting industry and knowledge on LED technology. The role will also involve the promotion of our lighting design service. You must be highly organised, commercially focussed, a good communicator, networker and set a positive example of behaviour to colleagues. You are expected to have a thorough understanding of value based specification selling within the UK lighting market, including its stakeholders. You must be a brand ambassador and act in a professional manner at all times, setting a good example to customers and colleagues. Have good MS-Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), time keeping, presentation, networking and project management skills. Additional software skills such as CRM and AutoCAD are preferred.
